The
railjet, abbreviated RJ, is a long-distance train operated by the Austrian
Federal Railways (ÖBB) and is one of the fastest locomotive-hauled trains in the
world. Treat yourself to a little luxury! In the railjet's First or Business
Class, you can travel like an emperor in Austria. Railjet trains have been
running between Vienna - Zurich - Vienna since June 2010. On SBB Route 1 you
will find the section Pfäffikon Schwyz - Sargans, which the railjet also travels
in the original.
Requires SBB1 route for the scenarios
The
railjet is a joint train type operated by the ÖBB, Deutsche Bahn, the Swiss
Federal Railways and the Hungarian state railway Magyar Államvasutak. The train
was presented to the public for the first time on 15 September 2008. It began
commercial operation at the timetable change in 2008/2009. In mid-July 2012, set
51 was the last RJ set to leave the Simmering factory for the ÖBB. The railjet
sets consist of individual carriages that are connected to one another with
shell couplings and have normal screw couplings at the ends. A double set is
used on routes with particularly high passenger volumes. The trains consist of a
185-metre-long push-pull train, which consists of a control car and six
intermediate cars. This train is pulled by a multi-system Taurus 2 locomotive at
speeds of up to 230 km/h. Including the locomotive, the train has a total length
of 205 metres.
