As
early as 1846, a railway committee was founded in Düren with the aim of building
a railway line from Düren to Trier. The planned route should follow the Rur
valley to Heimbach and from there continue via Schleiden to the valleys of the
Eifel.
Ultimately, the plan was abandoned and the Eifel route was built via Euskirchen
and not via Heimbach.
The GBE
Rurtalbahn 2.0 offers you the opportunity to experience the flair and impressive
atmosphere around the Rur Valley in a realistic way over 30 kilometers.
