The ICE
1 is the first generation of high-speed Intercity Express (ICE) trains for
long-distance passenger transport. This train also operates across borders in
the Swiss network.
Krauss-Maffei was commissioned to develop and build the machine in 1988. The
series designation is series 401.
The
multiple units used are scheduled to consist of two power cars (series 401) and
up to 14 intermediate cars of series 801 to 804. In some cases they are combined
with power cars (series 402) and intermediate cars of the second class (series
806) of the ICE 2.
