B42Rail BahnMoment - Vol. 2: BLS Am 843 traveling on the Lötschberg
The
Simtrain BLS Lötschberg - Mountain Route AddOn is a big deal. And one thing is
missing from the route right off the bat: the Am 843! With this locomotive
add-on and ten matching scenarios, we have a fantastic package right from the
start. In addition to the regular service trains and local shunting operations,
there are also some special tasks. For one, an SBB locomotive has to be towed,
and for another, a freight train has to be run directly behind the regional
S-Bahn train. Last but not least, there's also snow – so a snow run is included
as well.
All in all, it's quite a challenge for the BLS Am 843 to face.
Our BLS Am 843
The BLS
Am 843 is not an unknown locomotive. It's not a new build, but an add-on with
updated cosmetics. The locomotive originates from ChrisTrains. He then looked at
our Am 843 and was able to help a little to adapt the locomotive and make it
compatible with the SBB vehicles. The most noticeable change, of course, is the
new front end. The lower lights are no longer on the front box, but on a
modified shape. This shape has also been slightly altered and adapted to the
Swiss prototype. The sides and bodywork have also been modernized.
Only the cab and the interior remain unchanged. For the Swiss vehicles, all cabs
would be controlled from the left – this is not the case with these locomotives.
Only the lettering has been changed to German.
