ICE 2 (BR 402)
Version 1.15, November 20, 2024
Why stop when things are at their best? The resounding success of the ICE 1
paved the way for a sequel. A new, improved generation of
high-speed trains was to be developed.
Bright minds at the former German Federal Railway determined the requirements
for the second-generation ICE. It was intended primarily for use on less busy
routes where an ICE 1 with its impressive 700 seats simply wasn't
economical. Thus, the ICE 2 was limited to six intermediate cars, a driving
trailer, and a power car. This train configuration allowed two trains to be
coupled together to form a double unit when needed.
After entering service in 1996, the ICE 2 became a familiar
and welcome sight on the rail network for over 20 years. With its top speed
of 280 km/h, it certainly held its own against its big brother, the ICE 1.
Because all good things must come to an end, the ICE 2 will be
gradually phased out over the coming years. We think that's reason enough to
keep its memory alive in Train Simulator.
Therefore, 3DZUG has recreated the ICE 2 with meticulous attention to
detail and their usual high quality. Delivered in the current Deutsche
Bahn redesign, the carriages are individually crafted and the passenger
compartments are fully accessible. Relax in first class, visit the open-plan
carriage, or treat yourself to refreshments in the restaurant car.
Expand your fleet with this gem and come aboard! Ten scenarios for various
routes complete the package.
