Gotthardlinie 1: Route Zurich / Luzern - Gotthard for Microsoft Train Simulator
Information to the model
The Arth-Goldau - Biasca route of the
Gotthard Railway was opened in 1882. Between 1883 and 1896 the lines
were expanded to double track and electrified in 1920. The Gotthard line
was one of the masterpieces of railway technology and is the SBB's
parade line. In addition to international trains such as Eurocitys and
Cisalpinos, international freight trains also roll over the Gotthard.
Since the SBB's open access, various locomotives from foreign railways
have been rolling over the Gotthard in addition to the well-known Re
4/4, Re 6/6 and Re 460. DB and Dispolok locomotives are now part of
daily events. The Gotthard Base Tunnel will be opened in around 10
years, creating a direct connection between Erstfeld and Biasca. What
will happen to the 'old' Gotthard route is still unclear. But the
extinction has already begun. For several years now, the stations
between Erstfeld and Biasca have no longer been served by regional
trains. Since then, only an Interregio and a Eurocity stop twice a day
stop in Airolo and Göschenen. In Ticino and the Zug / Lucerne region,
the new S-Bahn connections of the TILO and the Zug Stadtbahn were able
to bring new impetus to regional transport, also thanks to the use of
the new FLIRT multiple units.
Information to the Add-On
The Train Simulator AddOn includes the
route from Zurich to Arth-Goldau, the route from Lucerne to Arth-Goldau
as well as the lines around Lake Zug (Luzern - Zug, Zug - Cham -
Immensee - Arth-Goldau and Zug - Walchwil - Arth-Goldau ) built. These
lines will also contain the new stations of the Zug light rail system.
The simulator route then continues from Arth-Goldau along Lake Lucerne
to Flüelen and further along the Gotthard north ramp to Göschenen. Then
follows the 15,003 meter long Gotthard Tunnel between Göschenen and
Airolo. The train then climbs from 1141 meters above sea level (Airolo)
down the Leventina to Biasca (293 meters above sea level). The line then
continues to Bellinzona and Lake Lugano. In Melide the railway line
crosses the lake using a dam and continues to the border with Chiasso.
In addition to this line, the lines to Locarno and Luino will also be
available in the add-on. The entire add-on will have around 350
kilometers of rail. The terrain was terraformed with Demex and marked
out and created using GPS data.
Since the Gotthard
route from Zurich / Lucerne to Chiasso would be too large, the route
will be divided into two parts and created separately. The first part
leads from Zurich and Lucerne to Göschenen to the Gotthard Tunnel. The
second part includes the rest to Chiasso / Locarno / Luino.
